Staging Area

In order to replicate data into, or within the TargetThe location where the Replication Server will be located and where Target machines will be created (as a result of Test, Cutover or Recovery). , CloudEndure uses Replication ServerThe CloudEndure Machine to which Staging Disks are attached and to which data is replicated; launched on the Target location.(s) as a lightweight replication Staging AreaA part of the Target location; includes the Replication Servers’ subnet, IPs, and the Replication Servers and their disks..

These Replication ServersThe CloudEndure Machine to which Staging Disks are attached and to which data is replicated; launched on the Target location. are automatically launched in a designated subnet location in the AWS cloud.

Setting Up Your Network

Before you start using CloudEndure, you should set your network for AWS. vCenterVMWare's virtual environment management platform. has its own specific setup requirements that can be found here.

On the TargetThe location where the Replication Server will be located and where Target machines will be created (as a result of Test, Cutover or Recovery). environment, prepare a designated subnet for the CloudEndure Staging AreaA part of the Target location; includes the Replication Servers’ subnet, IPs, and the Replication Servers and their disks.. You can use either an existing subnet or a new one. The Staging AreaA part of the Target location; includes the Replication Servers’ subnet, IPs, and the Replication Servers and their disks. subnet is intended for CloudEndure's solution, including launchingAfter the replication to the Staging area, launching is the process of setting up the Replication Servers, for Testing or Cutover and Recovery purposes. the Replication ServersThe CloudEndure Machine to which Staging Disks are attached and to which data is replicated; launched on the Target location., which receive the replicated data from the SourceThe location of the Source machine; Currently either a specific Region or Other Infrastructure. machines.

Note: It is recommended to prepare a subnet – one for the Staging Area and one for the Target. The reason for this is that the Replication Servers on the Staging Area allocated private IP addresses in a random fashion (if they are not manually assigned.) If Target machine are set on the same subnet as the Replication Servers, the IP addresses that are allocated to the Replication Servers will not be available for the Target machines.

Note: We recommend that you isolate the Target machine subnets while performing a Test as doing so will prevent potential conflicts with the Source location.

Note: CloudEndure automatically handles all network disconnections between the CloudEndure Agent and the Staging Area. Once the connection is restored, the replication continues automatically. Momentary network disconnections will not be shown on the User Console at all. If the disconnection lasts a significant amount of time, the User Console will show a Replication Stalled status
